Independence-2011, an event created specifically for the Yahoo! community (including family members and friends) was held in October on the Sunnyvale campus with one primary goal: to open everyone's eyes to the reality of disability and how technology can be used to empower all. Yahoo! recently released the event video for Independence 2011 on the Yahoo! YouTube Channel to share the Independence 2011 experience far and wide. The Institute for Human Centered Design, a Boston-based 33-year-old international, educational non-profit, is pleased to announce that it has received a five-year (2011-2016) federal grant award from the National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research of the U.S. Department of Education to serve the six New England states under the New England ADA Center. The ADA Center will provide outreach, training, information dissemination and technical assistance on the rights and responsibilities of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
