About the Symposium (Apr. 11):

Learn how universal design pioneers and leaders have influenced and transformed their professions to attend to the needs of all people equally. A sign-language interpreter will be present and the venue is accessible to persons using wheelchairs and other mobility devices.

About the Workshop (Apr. 11–13):
The workshop will target prospective or current SF State students -- in particular, students with disabilities -- interested in applying to design majors. The workshop will include presentations, activities and exercises for the student participants  centered around an inclusive design overview and assessment of the recently renovated SF State Library and the West Campus Green Park scheduled to open in March 2013.

Enrollment in pre-workshop orientation and workshop is limited to prospective and current students. Priority consideration will be given to students with disabilities. Please contact the organizer if you would like to register as an observer/non-student participant.

About the Access to Design Professions Program at SF State:
Access to Design Professions is a leadership initiative funded by the National Endowment for the Arts, with the goal to increase and support the participation of people with disabilities in the design professions. The objectives of Access to Design Professions Program (ADP) in post-secondary schools is to support the recruitment of people with disabilities into careers in design.

The purpose of this event is to promote universal and inclusive design principles to potential Community College Transfer, or Continuing SF State students, in particular, students with disabilities, so that they may pursue applying to the design majors at SF State, such as:
