Ana Julian, Assoc. AIA, was born in Colombia then moved to Paris as an adolescent. She earned a Masters of Architecture degree from the Ecole Speciale d'Architecture in Paris, and then a Master in Techniques of Construction at the Institute de la Construction Industraialisee, also in Paris. She is certified with the International Code Council as an Accessibility/Inspector Plans Examiner.
After receiving her master degree, Ana traveled extensively in Europe and practiced for several years in architectural firms. She has experience designing affordable housing in Paris and for clients in the developing world.
As part of a work/study program, Ana traveled to the U.S. and was an intern at the Institute of Human Centered Design starting in 1998. She joined IHCD as full-time staff in 2003 as Coordinator of Design and Communications; she works in a variety of projects including Designing for the 21st Century III, An International Conference on Universal Design. Currently, Ms. Julian provides technical assistance as part of the New England ADA Center, a project of the Institute of Human Centered Design. In addition to her job, Ms. Julian has a strong interest in the renovations of religious spaces to improve the accessibility and sense of welcome for the community across the spectrum of ability and age. Ana is fluent in Spanish, French and English.
