Directions to the Institute for Human Centered Design


By Public Transportation

The office is close to the three following MBTA stations. To reach any of these locations, please follow the directions for the station that is most convenient for you.

North Station

From the Green Line: Take exit to “Causeway Street” once on Causeway turn left and keep walking toward MGH. Portland Street will be the third street on your left. 

From the Orange Line: Take exit to “Causeway St” once on Causeway turn left and keep walking toward MGH. Portland Street will be the third street on your left.

Tip: There is a 7-11 and a Bank of America ATM location at the end of Portland St. 

Tip: There is a Subway Sandwhich Shop directly across the street from IHCD.

Haymarket Station

From the Green Line: Take the Exit to “Street & Buses” turn right onto Congress Street walk towards Edward W. Brooke Court House, at the Mobil gas station bear right onto Portland Street.

From the Orange Line: Take exit to “Congress Street” turn right in Congress Street and walk towards Edward W. Brooke Court House, at the Mobil gas station bear right onto Portland Street.

Government Center

From the Green and Blue Line: Take exit to “Cambridge Street” on Cambridge Street turn right and keep walking toward MGH, on Staniford Street turn right and walk toward the TD Banknorth Garden. Portland Street will be on your right.

Charles/MGH

From the Red Line: Get off at Charles MGH. Go right on Cambridge Street. Take a left onto Staniford Street. Proceed down until you get the the intersection of Causeway and Staniford. Bare a right onto Causeway. Take a right onto Portland.

Parking

Street parking and parking lots are available nearby. Some of the street parking is metered and the meters operate Monday through Saturday until 8:00 PM. There is also free 2-hour street parking along Merrimac Street (behind the AE office). One of the parking lots is located at the corner of Merrimac Street and New Chardon Street. The cost is $20/day, and the lot is open until 1:00 AM.

  • We are located on the ground floor and are the first door on your right when you enter the building.
  • If the store isn't open just ring the door bell on the wall to the right., how ever if the store os open walk in and the attendant will be glad to help you.
